BlackNETs Project Public Event 'Waste, Marine Litter, and Ghost Nets'"
In the scope of the BlackNETs Project “Exorcising the Black Sea’s Silent Killers”, Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Marine Sciences, in collaboration with Ortahisar Municipality, is organizing a public event aimed at raising public awareness under one inspiring theme: 'Waste, Marine Litter, and Ghost Nets'.
On June 3, 2025, the Boztepe Volkan Konak Observation Terrace in Trabzon will come alive with creativity, learning, and fun as we host “A World Transformed by Colors: Zero Waste Art Event and Children’s Zero Waste Festival.” This year’s event proudly features our #GhostBuster Campaign, an interactive awareness program focused on abandoned, lost, or discarded fishing gear (ALDFG).

What to Expect:
???? Zero Waste Art Activity & Exhibition
Students will express their vision of a cleaner planet by creating oil paintings themed around zero waste. These unique artworks will be displayed throughout the event.
?? Zero Waste Exhibition Tour
Attendees will have the chance to explore an exhibition that highlights sustainable practices, recycling, and the impact of waste on our ecosystems.
???? Fun & Educational Activities for Kids
Face painting, hair braiding, and other entertaining activities are designed for kids.

Learn about ghost nets and marine litter through interactive materials Marine Litter PlayCard Activity, and #GhostBuster campaign — raising awareness through play!
