Erdem Aksoy experimental design laboratory (EADTL)

The foundation of the Architecture Laboratory was laid in 1974, and construction was completed in 1976. The purpose of establishing the laboratory was to conduct experiments related to user comfort in the face of environmental factors, prepare scale models needed for consulting services to be provided to the environment, conduct experimental studies on these models, evaluate findings, and carry out numerical measurements. The laboratory was realized using its own resources, as well as benefiting from a UNDP project.

In 2006, the laboratory's name was changed to "Erdem Aksoy Experimental Design Laboratory-EADTL" in memory of Prof. Dr. Erdem Aksoy, one of the founders of the department.

On the lower floor of the laboratory, there is a hall with panels placed for exhibition purposes. The experimental area, covering approximately 400 m², allows for the arrangement of full-scale models, which can move easily in three dimensions and be illuminated in various ways, enabling photographs and films of the experimental setups to be taken from all angles. Every experiment conducted can be observed from a common gallery surrounding the experimental area. The experimental area includes a "Wind Tunnel."

Today, the entrance floor of the EADTL is used as a workspace for KTÜ Architecture Department Workshop 1 and 2 students, and seminars and workshops are held in this area as needed.
