The Faculty of Forestry commenced its education and training in the 1971-1972 academic year. Teaching has been carried out in the Departments of Forestry Engineering and Forest Industry Engineering since the first academic year. Thus, it became the second Faculty of Forestry in Türkiye to open with two departments. Subsequently, the Department of Landscape Architecture was established within the faculty. Students enrolled in the Department of Forestry Engineering graduate as Forestry Engineers, while those in the Department of Forest Industry Engineering graduate as Forest Industry Engineers. Students at the Department of Landscape Architecture receive a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, and students at the Department of Wildlife Ecology and Management graduate in the field of Wildlife Ecology and Management.

Until 2021, our Faculty's Departments of Forestry Engineering and Forest Industry Engineering were accredited by MÜDEK. Following a review conducted in March 2021, the accreditation of our departments has been extended for two years, starting from September 30, 2021, until September 30, 2023. The Faculty comprises the main building housing the Department of Forestry Engineering and the Administrative Officers, along with buildings housing the Department of Forest Industry Engineering, the Department of Landscape Architecture, offices, greenhouses, and laboratories. There are 5 lecture halls and 25 classrooms within the Faculty.

Currently, the Faculty has a total of 102 faculty members, including 41 Professors, 26 Associate Professors, 8 Assistant Professors, 4 lecturers, and 23 Research Assistants. The General Administrative Services consists of 11 personnel, the Technical Services has 9, and the Auxiliary Services has 15 administrative staff.

The Faculty hosts the Forestry Research and Application Center, which is affiliated with the Rectorate. Faculty members and assistants participate in national and international scientific activities and occasionally organize such events at our university. As the second Faculty of Forestry in Türkiye, the Faculty provides consultancy services to employees of the General Directorate of Forestry and Regional Directorates, as well as to employees of private sector establishments. The Faculty's Department of Forest Industry Engineering staff maintains close relationships with private organizations in neighboring provinces and their wood processing facilities. Establishing close scientific and technical cooperation with the Turkic republics of Russia is among the primary goals of the Faculty, which is currently undergoing restructuring.
